About Me

Vital Statistics

Female, born in '63, pagan, divorced. US citizen, resident of Raleigh, NC. Sometime fan fiction writer, professional computer programmer.

Ancient History

My parents both grew up on farms in Nebraska, USA. They met in college.

I was born in Laramie, WY and we lived in Maryland, Texas, Illinois and Florida.

When I was a senior at UCF, my parents moved away from home. After graduation, I followed them to Dallas for my first 'real' job.

Modern History

I started BBSing in 1983, in Florida.

In 1986, in Dallas, I began to meet fen and get involved in fandom. 1986-1994 I was living on BBSs; attending the Dallas Fantasy Fair and Scarborough Renaissance Faire every year; and involved in the comic book, Dr Who, and Furry fandoms. In '94 my interest in Dr Who dropped away as I and Fuzzy Fox (my second husband) got onto the internet and had more contact with the Furry fandom, including several trips to LA for Confurence.

Shortly after Fuzzy Fox and I separated and I moved to Raleigh, NC, I did a 'net search for Kirk/Spock -- a term I'd heard whispered at DFF several times in the past. I got a few hits and thus started my obsession with slash.

Fandom History

Since 1997 I've read, obsessed over, and sometimes written slash for: ST:TOS, ST:VOY, TS, dS, XF, SV and HP; along with side trips to smaller fandoms such as 'Memento' and 'Hard Core Logo'.

Beliefs

I believe that magic is real, but that someday we'll know enough to consider it a science.

My religious beliefs are most closely categorized as 'agnostic pagan for Jesus.' I don't claim to know everything. I do believe that whatever 'god' is, it is too formless to be anthropomorphized. I don't believe that Jesus is the son of god any more than any person, plant or animal is. However, that doesn't detract from his messages of love and peace.

I rather vaguely believe in both an afterlife and reincarnation. I think that we continue to exist, and that when we leave our physical forms we have access to greater knowledge of existence and each other.

I believe in the death penalty in theory. I think that a lifetime of confinement is more cruel than release into the afterlife, and that whatever defect causes evil is cured at death. In practice, even with DNA testing I think that there are very few cases that are 100% without doubt.

Politically -- I'd like to form my own country with a minimum common-sense requirement for entrance.

Professional Stats

I started out after college as a 'rocket scientist', programming for Texas Instruments in both Fortran and Jovial.

Since 1990 I've written Blood Bank and Medical Laboratory software, in Mumps, VB and Java.
